Hi, I’m Aria Ke Gong. Aria for short, Gong Ke (/kə/) in Chinese-speaking contexts (yes, family names always come first!).

I tell stories about sport, across languages, across media systems, across the gap between how China and the rest of the world talk about the same athletes and events. I'm drawn to the narratives that get lost in translation, literally and otherwise: the athlete whose story reads differently in Chinese and English, the event that means something different depending on whose home crowd you're standing in.

Diversity, equality, and inclusion run through a lot of this work, not as a separate beat, but as the questions I keep circling back to when a story is more complicated than it first looks.
